Ziel des Urban Intervention Award Berlin ist es, maßgeblich zur Verbesserung der Lebensqualität im urbanen Umfeld beizutragen und Prozesse des städtischen Miteinanders zu stimulieren. Der Urban Intervention Award Berlin gliedert sich in zwei Kategorien: Built (ein realisiertes Bauprojekt) und Temporary (ein realisiertes temporäres Projekt). Die Auszeichnungen würdigen Projekte, die einen substantiellen Beitrag zur Neudefinition, Wiederbelebung und Aufwertung innerstädtischer Quartiere leisten und Vorbildcharakter haben. Das gilt für die Umwandlung und Umnutzung alter Bausubstanz, für Neubauten und temporäre Projekte.
Urban Living Award 2013
Mit dem Urban Living Award 2013 werden herausragende realisierte Projekte ausgezeichnet, die Beispiele exzellenter Baukunst im Bereich zukunftsweisender, integrativer Wohn- und Lebensmodelle in Verbindung mit neuen innovativen Nutzungs- und/oder Umnutzungskonzepten sind und im Zusammenwirken von Partnern unterschiedlicher Bereiche und Disziplinen entwickelt wurden. Von Interesse sind sowohl wohnungsbauspezifische Themen wie Barrierefreiheit, Mehrgenerationenwohnen und Partizipation als auch die Vernetzung der Wohnprojekte zu Partnern aus dem urbanen Umfeld, wie Kindertagesstätten, Schulen oder Pflegestationen.

For the second time, the Berlin Senate Department of Urban Development and the Environment is opening a Europe-wide call for projects for the Urban Intervention Award Berlin. For the first time, this prize is being offered in collaboration with Deutsche Wohnen AG and will for this reason be expanded to include the new Urban Living Award.

This year, for the first time, Deutsche Wohnen AG will award prize money in the amount of €3,000 to the winners of the two categories in the Urban Intervention Award Berlin, ‘Build’ and ‘Temporary’, as well as the winner of the Urban Living Award. Only project that have been realised in the past five years may be submitted. Interested architects can submit their work by 24th August 2013 (postmarked by this date) to the following address:

Urban Intervention Award Berlin 2013
The goal of the Urban Intervention Award Berlin is to contribute significantly to the improvement of the quality of life in the urban environment and to stimulate processes of urban cooperation. The Urban Intervention Award is composed of two categories: Build (a realised building project) and Temporary (a realised temporary project). The prize recognises exemplary projects that contribute substa ntially to newly defining, revitalising and upgrading inner-city neighbourhoods. The transformation and conversion of existing structures, new build and temporary projects are all valid for entry.
Urban Living Award 2013
The Urban Living Award 2013 recognises outstanding realised projects which are examples of excellent architecture in the area of forward-looking, integrative models for housing and living in conjunction with new innovative concepts of use and/or conversion, and which were developed through cooperation between partners coming from varying fields and disciplines. We are interested in both housing-specific topics, such as accessibility, multi-generation homes and participation, and in topics related to connecting residential projects with such partners in the urban environment as childcare, schools and nursing homes.
